The Tatra mountains have been inhabited since prehistoric times, but the first written mention of them dates back to 1291 when they were referred to as “the Tatras”.

Gdansk
Gdansk is a city in Poland. It is located on the Baltic coast, at the mouth of the Motlawa River and serves as a seaport for Poland.
Gdansk was founded in 13th century by Pomeranian Duke Barnim I, who had built a fortress on an island in Gdańsk Bay. The Polish king Casimir III the Great granted town privileges to Gdańsk in 1343 and declared it to be one of royal cities of Poland in 1434. In 1569, during the Livonian War, Gdańsk was conquered by Sweden and only regained its independence with help from France and her allies at the Treaty of Oliva (1660).
Gdansk has had a long history of being both part of Polish territory as well as German territory. In 1920-21, it was occupied by Soviet Russia before being taken over by Nazi Germany from 1939 to 1945. It finally became part of Poland again in 1945. There is a variety of Christian denominations, most notably Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox Christians.
